About
Your numbers, explained.
Web analytics tends to fail in one of two opposite directions. The enterprise tools give you events, dimensions, explorations and attribution settings, and leave you to work out which report answers the question you actually had. The minimal tools give you a number you can read in three seconds and no way to find out why it moved.
Neither failure is really about charts. Both are about the same missing step: somebody has to look at the data and say what happened.
What we think
Six things we are building around.
The answer is the product
A dashboard is a way of asking the customer to do the analysis. Most of them do not want to, most of them should not have to, and the ones who do can still open the evidence.
Numbers are computed, explanations are written
A model asked to do arithmetic over event text will produce a confident, wrong figure. Keeping the metric layer deterministic and the model explanatory is the only version of this that is safe to trust.
Raw request volume is not business activity
A meaningful share of what hits a modern website is a crawler, a bot or an attack. An analytics product that reports it as traffic is not simplifying — it is misleading, politely.
Correlation deserves to be called correlation
The most useful thing analytics can say is often “this moved right after that, and here is what I ruled out.” The least useful is a causal claim it cannot support.
Analytics that stops at the conversion stops too early
A lead is not revenue, a conversion is not a collected invoice, and a refund three weeks later is part of the story. The systems that know belong in the picture.
Nothing we run should be able to slow your site
Collection is written aside from the request path, never inside it. A pipeline outage of ours should be invisible to your visitors — which is a design constraint, not an aspiration.
How we write about it
This site is the first thing we have to get right.
A product built on distinguishing evidence from assertion cannot advertise itself by assertion. No statistic appears here without a source, no customer logo appears until there is a customer, every figure in every panel is labelled demonstration data, and where something is a correlation we say so.

We would rather hear what is wrong with it.

Connect a site and the first brief arrives with the day's changes already explained — traffic separated from bots, conversions attached to revenue, and the evidence behind every sentence one click away.
